“Go dig holes if you have to.”
.
It’s times like these that make those words even more powerful to me.
.
Growing up in a blue collar family my parents always instilled in me and my siblings that even though we didn’t have much we had the ability to achieve anything and become anyone we wanted.
.
Constantly reminding us that where we are at now doesn’t mean that’s where we need to stay.
.
I remember in 2008 when the market crashed and we lost nearly everything I thought to myself “my career in real estate is over”
.
“How am I going to make money? How am I going to build a life”.
.
After a few days of self-suffering my father slapped my in the head (I needed that) and reminded me that “hard times make hard men”
.
“Go out and dig holes if you have to!”
.
This was his way of reminding me that even though times get tough it doesn’t have to stay that way. “If you’re able to work you’re able to create value.”
.
So after two weeks of self-suffering and experiencing my second crisis in business, I started digging holes.
.
This COVID-19 thing and how it impacted my business and industry is completely out of my control.
.
But my ability to “dig holes” is stronger than ever.
.
It’s time to create value, help other hosts stay in business and prep my company to take on the endless amount of opportunity once things get back to normal.
.
Here’s to digging holes 🥂.
